Our family is cozy, chaotic, weird, and unique - but The Cozy DH Stitchery wouldn’t be what it is without that.
There’s DH (they/them), the designer and artist - queer, non-binary, and a disabled former healthcare worker with ADHD. Their slightly unhinged sense of humour and special interest in cryptozoology, ufology, and generally all “weird” stuff informs their design style.
Their spouse, Toot (she/they), calls herself the Chaos DH - in this case, DH stands for “DH Handler”. Toot keeps things rolling behind the scenes, and is a neverending source of inspiration. Her love of horror movies, cute underrated animals, and folklore threads through the designs of The Cozy DH Stitchery.
The Kids
Binx
Binx is, unsurprisingly, a black cat who has refused to grow larger than a kitten, but she’s got the voice to stand her ground.
Ghostface
Ghostface, a super arctic juvenile hognose, does NOT live up to his namesnake - he might pancake at you, but he gets over it real quick.
Earlie
Earlie, the bogwitch of the colony, a grey and white lady. She loves her Daddy and tolerates all others. Mostly.
Genny
Genny, a wild-type cornsnake who is a stunning red, a sweet boy, and a bottomless pit for food. He has a single braincell, and his passion is flower-arranging.
Springtrap
Springtrap, a lavender striped California kingsnake, is DH’s future long girl - just a juvenile now, she will grow into a large active snake, who is the smartest snake we’ve ever met. She’s also actually purple! Lavender morphs in snakes are notoriously hard to capture on film.
Jiji
Jiji (short for Darjeeling) is the man of the house, a handsome black tuxedo who has taken on the role of fussy nurse for every member of the colony, human or feline.
Sandy
Sandy (the Sandworm), an anery (black-and-white) cornsnake who has an attitude as big as his namesake (namesnake?), and he has two whole braincells. One of them is used for sass, and the other for loving his momma Toot.
Sam
Sam is a recent addition to the colony. She’s a skittish young tabby who is still learning how to deal with humans, but adores her older brother Jiji and is growing like a weed.
Pao
Pao, a redfooted tortoise who packs a huge personality into a relatively small shell. Her favourite things are fresh fruit, boiled eggs, and destroying her enclosure.
Pennywise
Pennywise the ball python has a mixed bag of genes to give him his unique colouration: lesser pastel vanilla het clown. He’s dumb as a rock but a sweetheart.
Glen
Glen is our youngest, a toasted marshmallow of a ball of energy. He runs circles around all of us, but is as sweet and loving as his brother Jiji. Already a big lanky boy, we can’t wait to see the tom he grows into!
Socks, Bella, and Pekoe
The colony has said goodbye to three members, whose influence and spirit continue to guide the colony.
Socks was a loving tuxedo lady who wasn’t afraid to take on a turkey four times her size.
Bella was a beautiful brown and grey tabby, definitely the queen of the colony. She had an opinion and you would get it whether you asked for it or not.
Pekoe was an orange tabby with a big personality and taught us all about the importance of respecting boundaries and meeting people where they are.
Our Stance on AI
Generative AI has no place in art. All of our patterns are 100% humanmade. All of our graphics, too - the backgrounds used with the mock-ups are photographs taken by DH for that purpose.
Keep AI out of art. Keep AI out of cross-stitch.
